ABOUT THE COMPANY
Torqeedo offers outboards and inboards, electric motors and hybrid drive systems ranging from 0,5 to 100 kW on motor level (up to 200 kW on system level). There are also all sorts of functional and innovative accessories – from lithium batteries and solar charging equipment to smartphone apps. All company's drive systems operate at record levels with regard to overall efficiency, the most important measure of electric propulsion, as it determines potential power and range for limited battery supply. Torqeedo offers solutions for water-based propulsion systems, combined with advice, delivery and service in over 50 countries on 5 continents.
HISTORY
Since there are significant restrictions on operating combustion engines on Lake Starnberg (Germany), this led managers Dr Christoph Ballin and Dr Friedrich Böbel to looking into the question of electric boat propulsion. Instead of finding high-tech products and drive systems produced on an industrial scale, they discovered a market opportunity. When they founded Torqeedo, concepts such as cleantech and electromobility had not yet been coined. But it was already obvious back in 2004 that electric motors would become increasingly important in the future due to global population growth, the growth of the middle classes around the world, limited oil reserves and efforts to limit global warming.

- Electric Outboard Motors:
Suitable for kayaks, for tenders, dinghies up to 1.5 tons, a wide range of product fit also to motorboats and sailboats up to 10 tons and commercial operators. - Electric Inboard Motors:
Torqeedo’s superior electric motors are suitable for powerful motorboats, large sailing yachts and commercial vessels such as ferries. With up to 100 kW the high-RPM version easily powers planing boats, while the low-RPM version is ideal for large yachts and other displacement vessels. - Batteries:
Safe, powerful, user-friendly, and designed to the very last detail for most demanding uses
Lithium-based batteries are store significantly more energy than other batteries, maintain a high current, do not lose their charging capacity, reliably supply power even in cold conditions, and also deliver many more cycles than lead-based batteries. - Accessories:
